Benefits and EventsThe Magnolia Society is a worldwide organization of more than 700 members in 32 countries both professional and amateur who share an interest in magnolias. PublicationsThe Society publishes Magnolia: Journal of the Magnolia Society twice each year. It features articles on magnolia culture, propagation, display collections, new cultivars and other pertinent topics. Magnolia Magazine, a newsletter, is also published twice each year and includes information on upcoming events, publications of interest, changes in directors or officers and general information of interest to Society members. Several books about magnolias have been published and are available for purchase. MeetingsThe Society holds an Annual Meeting each year featuring informative talks, discussions, a plant auction and visits to area gardens of interest. The 2001 Annual Meeting was held in Ireland, 2002 in Seattle (Bellevue), Washington, USA, 2003 in New Zealand and 2004 in Philadelphia. The 2005 Annual Meeting took place in the Italian Lakes region of northern Italy and 2006 was in Tallahassee, Florida. The Society has a mid-Atlantic regional group which holds a one-day meeting each spring and British regional members had their most recent meeting at the Royal Horticultural Garden, Wisley in the summer of 2004. At this time these are the only two regional Magnolia groups. Seed DistributionA Seed List is distributed to members annually in late winter. The seed list offers a chance for members to purchase magnolia seeds collected by members and donated to the Seed Counter. Some seeds are wild collected. Membership RatesRates are $25 for USA and $30USD for Canada and all overseas. Life memberships are $600 USD. Payment is by US dollars via a check from a US bank, Visa or Mastercard. Checks should be made out to the Magnolia Society and mailed to the Treasurer. If using a charge card, include your name as it appears on your card, your card account number, expiration date and indicate whether Visa or Mastercard. Inquiries about membership and requests for copies of the bylaws should be addressed to the Secretary. Just send an e-mail, fax or letter with your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address. You may submit your dues via the On-Line Credit Card form or you may print the form, fill it out and mail it to the Treasurer.
