Magnolia 'Big Dude'
The 2013 Seed List is now available: Join or renew your membership and order your seeds by March 29, 2013.
The Seed Counter is the Magnolia Society’s seed exchange program, a benefit of membership. Members of the Society contribute seed from around the world, giving us the opportunity to offer seeds that you may not easily find at your local nursery.
Seed offerings differ each year depending on multiple factors that affect seed harvesting, but check out the most recent seed list to get an idea of the possibilities -- including hand-crosses from innovative breeding programs and open-pollinated seed from distinguished collections.
To purchase or donate seed, you need to be a registered member of the Magnolia Society. Find out more information on the benefits of membership and join us.
Seed is generally collected by Society members throughout the growing season and submitted to the Seed Counter in the fall. Over the winter, Society volunteers process and organize the seed at the Henry Foundation for Botanical Research in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania. The seed catalog is issued in the early part of the year and seed orders are usually fulfilled in late March.
It all starts with seed donations -- here’s how to contribute.
